Manage, request and compensate overtime reduction

Overtime of employees can either be reduced or compensated via absences such as vacation with activated overtime reduction or via a manual entry including financial compensation.

Reduce overtime by absences

To reduce overtime via an absence, a new absence type (e.g. "Overtime reduction") must be created in the Settings -> Absences area. In order for the absence to also reduce the employee's overtime, the "Overtime reduction" checkbox must be activated.The reduction of overtime through absence can then be requested by the employee in the same way as e.g. vacation (if the option is set). The duration of the absence also determines the number of hours that will be reduced from the employee's overtime quota.

Reduce overtime manually

In the user editing mask, all overtime worked, reduced and to be reduced in the future for a year can be viewed.

Unused overtime from the previous year is automatically transferred and credited to the employee. The already accrued overtime of the selected year is displayed below. All overtime hours up to the end of yesterday are taken into account. Neither the carryover from the previous year nor the overtime of the current year can be changed directly in the list.

In order to manually reduce overtime that has been compensated, for example, via a salary payment, manual entries with optional compensation can also be made in the list.


Future absences for which the option Reduction of overtime is activated are displayed as planned reduction of overtime. These can only be changed via the absence management.
